Fruits Basket has announced a new anime adaptation for 2019 and a first trailer has been released with Manaka Iwami as Tohru doing the narration! The first character illustrations of Tohru, Yuki, Kyo and Shigure have also been revealed.

Fruits Basket is based on a popular manga by Natsuki Takaya, which ran in the magazine Hana to Yume from 1998 to 2006.

Main character Tohru Honda lives alone in a tent when her mother suddenly passes away, but the place she chose to put up her tent actually belongs to the Soma family. Shigure Soma finds her and decides to employ her as their housekeeper, so she starts to live together with Shigure as well as school prince Yuki Soma and his seemingly arch-enemy Kyo Soma. However, there was one thing that Tohru didn’t know when she moved in. The Soma family has already been burdened with a curse for several centuries…

In the trailer we can take a first look at the movements of Tohru, Kyo, Yuki and Shigure. The legend of the twelve zodiacs, Tohru living with the Soma family and her meeting with Yuki, Kyo and Shigure… There are many developments to look forward to! Character visuals for the four main characters have also been released, so check them out! The visual also includes the appearance of each character when they turn into their zodiac!

The anime is scheduled to come out in 2019.
