The TV anime adaptation of Osamu Tezuka’s Dororo has revealed a third trailer. The series will start airing on 7 January 2019.

The trailer shows Haykkimaru (VA: Hiroki Suzuki), Dororo (VA: Rio Suzuki) and Jukai (VA: Akio Otsuka) who seem to get thrown all kinds of problems in their way but are still moving forward with a positive mind.

It has further been revealed that the ending theme will be provided by amazarashi and is called ‘Sayonara Gokko’. The song is dedicated to Haykkimaru and is supposed to describe the fate he carries on his shoulders and can’t escape from. You can hear it playing in the trailer.

Dororo tells the story of Hyakkimaru, who receives an artificial body after his own was taken apart by a demon with twelve bodies, and the young thief Dororo. The two of them are trying to regain Hyakkimaru’s body by hunting down all twelve demons. The original manga was published in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday and Akitashoten’s Adventure King and got its first anime adaptation in 1969.

It was during the Age of Warring States, the Sengoku period, when the samurai Daigo Kagemitsu promised multiple demons the body of his own child to fulfill his own ambitions. Like that, his son was born without any body parts as each of the demons took one, and to save his life, his mother left him on a river and sent him on a journey into the unknown. Time passes and a boy named Hyakkimaru travels the war-stricken country. He actually is the baby that was robbed of his body parts…
